Biochemistry (2026/2027)
Biochemistry is a fundamental course designed for second-year Bachelor’s students in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology. The course introduces the fundamental principles of biochemistry, including chemical bonds and the structure and physicochemical properties of amino acids, peptides, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. Students will also study basic enzymology, including enzyme classification, mechanisms of action, active sites, kinetics, inhibition, and allosteric regulation. The course further covers bioenergetics, redox reactions, and the main metabolic pathways of carbohydrates, lipids, peptides, and proteins, as well as vitamins and hormones. It aims to help students understand essential biochemical processes and become familiar with basic biochemical techniques. Prior knowledge of chemical bonds and the physicochemical properties of organic molecules is recommended.
